Ready finishes National Runner-Up

Ready-FloNationals

Ready in the FloNational Finals

Brighton juniors Luke Ready and Eric Conquest made the trip to Indiana, Pennsylvania last weekend to compete at the FloNationals, a national tournament featuring the nation’s top wrestlers from 32 states.

Ready, coming in fresh of his Division 1 State Championship last month, was the #2 seed in the tournament and was dominant in his first three matches to advance to the Championship Finals.  Ready scored a pair of major decisions and then a 4-1 win over 3x State Finalist and 1x State Champ Kevin Koenig of Laingsburg, MI to advance to the finals where he lost to the nation’s #3 ranked Austin Myers of Kentucky.  Myers was a 4x undefeated state champ in Kentucky and will be wrestling at West Virginia University next fall.

Conquest, who finished 4th in the state last month, came in unseeded but knocked off the #4 seed Trevor Rasmussen from Oregon, a 2x State Champion, in the first round and then won 5-3 over Shaun Stockwell of Utah to advance to the championship quarterfinals.  He then lost to eventual 4th place finisher in the quarterfinals and lost 3-2 in the ultimate tiebreaker overtime, one win away from securing all-american honors.
