The 2015-16 Brighton Wrestling team, fresh off the program’s first state championship last season, has unveiled the Varsity schedule for this season.
Much like last year, the Bulldogs will be tested early and often with one of the most challenging schedules in the state.
The Dogs, ranked #4 in Michigan Grappler’s Division 1 Pre-Season Rankings, are slated to compete in dual meets against the #1, #2, and #3 teams in D1, and will see every single top 10 team at some this year in duals or tournaments.
“Since I got here one of our biggest goals has been to provide team and individual challenges throughout the season in our schedule,” said Coach Tony Greathouse. “The goal is to compete for state titles every year and to be the best you have to know you can beat the best, so I am excited that our team has the opportunity to wrestle in some great environments this year against some of the State’s top programs.”
The Dogs, ranked #4 in the Michigan Grappler Division 1 Pre-Season Rankings, will open up with #3 ranked Davison on the road in a rematch of last year’s State Semifinals.
The schedule is also highlighted with 4 home events, including a quad featuring Dundee, the #1 ranked team in Division 3 and home duals with the top 2 teams in Division 1, Hartland and Detroit Catholic Central.
Brighton will once again take their show on the road, traveling out of state to wrestle in the Mat Mayhem Duals in Fort Wayne, Indiana in January featuring top programs from Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan.
The Bulldogs will also get another chance to compete on a College stage, competing prior to and Eastern Michigan University dual meet against Top 10 ranked Temperance Bedford.
